Happy Things #6

M&S Cookies. I made my very first trip to my local M&S Food Hall recently and found these delicious looking cookies. I actually remember seeing the Pineapple & Coconut cookies on someone's Instagram a while back and I've wanted to try them ever since but it's the flapjack cookies that really won me over.

Running. My treadmill is definitely one of the best investments I have ever made. I've had it for a while now and there is rarely a day that goes by when I don't use it. For me, I find it to be such a stress-reliever. Depending on my mood or energy levels that day, I'll either listen to a playlist on Spotify whilst I run, or I'll power walk on an incline whilst listening to a podcast. I'm hoping that once the weather warms up a bit, I might look for somewhere nice in the countryside where I can run during the weekends. I have still not found the perfect pair of running shoes but I do have a love for Skechers and I adore their memory foam range.

Kate Spade handbag. They say that most women either have a love of shoes or a love of bags. For me, it is most definitely bags. I used to have far too many and I have toned it down over the years but I still can't resist a beautiful looking bag. I've never been into designer handbags as I don't believe they're really worth the price but I decided that it was time to get myself a "staple handbag", one that I would take everywhere with me. So I did the unthinkable, I purchased my first designer handbag. I am in love with my new Kate Spade bag, the quality is exceptional and I can't wait to take it everywhere with me.

I hope you have all had an amazing week!

Review: Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb Night Cream

For those of you who didn't already know, I am obsessed with skincare and I am so pleased to share with you the latest addition to my skincare collection. I like to keep my skincare products to a minimum as I don't believe that I need everything, just a few good products will do, so it takes a lot for a product to gain a permanent spot in my life.

My go-to face moisturiser is Simple but, lately, I've felt as though my skin has been suffering from the stresses of long hours and minimal sleep and I felt like I needed something a bit richer at night to keep my skin looking healthy.

I've never been a fan of thick creams as I just wake up feeling like I have a bit of a film on my face. By chance, I came across the Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb whilst scrolling through Instagram. I did a bit of research online and after reading about how light it was, I was sold. I promptly headed to into town that weekend and made my purchase.

They actually do a day version too but I opted just for the night one as I feel that my Simple Moisturiser is sufficient enough for the day.

This night moisturiser is described as a "super-recharging antioxidant gel-cream" which "hydrates up to 10 layers of skin" and "recharges" and "replumps skin". Sounds pretty good, right? I love a good gel cream as you know it's going to be light and refreshing.

The packaging is nothing spectacular but it does the job. The pot is extremely light, it feels empty almost but you get around 50ml for £7.99, which isn't quite as expensive as the likes of Origins and Clinique, but it's also not as affordable as brands such as Simple.

This formula contains antioxidant pomegranate and amla extracts, and is specially targeted at dehydrated skin in need of a moisture boost. It sounded perfect for purpose.

I usually take a pea-sized amount and dot it all over my face before smoothing it all over. The texture is really strange and it's unlike any cream I've used before. At first touch it is very much like a standard gel cream. As I smoothed it over my face, it felt as though the cream was turning into some kind of water that my skin was drinking up straight away. It's honestly such a strange texture but it works and I like it. A little really does go a long way. It has a slight aquatic scent to it which is pretty much undetectable once applied.

Immediately after application, my skin was left feeling fresh and cool, but not heavy, which I was pleased about as I don't like the feeling of anything heavy on my face. It also meant that I wasn't transferring loads of product onto my pillow as I slept.

The following morning, my skin was surprisingly soft and smooth, and it felt so much more hydrated than the day before. There was also no residue or film on my skin as it seemed to have soaked in quite nicely.

I've been using this product for a few weeks now and it has really given my skin a much-needed moisture hit and I can wake up every day with supple, baby-soft skin.

Will I be getting the day cream to go with it? Probably not right now. Why spend more for a product when your current one already does the job you want out of that product?

As for this night cream, I will definitely be re-purchasing once I run out as it has been such a life-saver for my skin.

Have you tried the Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb? It is currently on offer at Superdrug and Boots.

A warm welcome (back)!

It's been a while, hasn't it? I've had a re-fresh. I've started over. So it's only right that I begin with a welcome post....

For those of you who are new to my blog, I'm Linda. I spent three beautiful years studying at university and I am now a young working professional putting all the hours in to build my dream life. I'm passionate about living a happy lifestyle but I'm all about mixing the good with the bad. I have a 70/30 rule. 70% good, 30% indulgent. I love working out but I also love cake and I wouldn't give it up for all the raw flapjacks in the world. Only two courses at dinner? Dessert is a given. I am a food enthusiast and there is no better way to catch up with friends than over a delicious dinner. This blog will contain a lot of food.

I am also a skincare obsessive and I am forever looking for effective but affordable ways of keeping my skin in tip-top condition. A flawless complexion is ten times better than any foundation you can buy. So on the beauty side of things on this blog, you probably won't see much make-up but you will see a lot of skincare products, tips, and tricks.

I love to visit new places. It amazes me how many beautiful and exciting places there are in the UK and it's a shame that so many chase the sun abroad. There are a lot of hidden gems here if you look hard enough. Be it a new restaurant, a spa, or a quirky little town, I might just share some of that with you on here,,,,

For those of you who have followed my blog for a while, welcome back and thank you so much for sticking by me during these long periods of radio silence. Life got busy and I lost motivation for this blog and began posting sporadically here and there. My life has changed considerably in the last few years and I am such a different person now that the old blog didn't seem to feel like "me" anymore. I didn't want to delete this little part of the web so, subsequently, I have given this blog a quick freshen up. I made the mistake of purchasing a blog template, installing it, then deleting it within minutes as I decided that my own design was much more appropriate. So everything you see here is my own design! I have had so much fun playing with html and css codes.

I have also deleted a lot of posts that I wasn't happy about and stuff that I should never have posted in the first place.

But I am here now. I am in such a happy place at the moment and I can not wait to get blogging again!
